Description: Under direction, performs patient care and clinical related activities; assists physicians in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology as assigned; performs vitals and phlebotomy procedures; maintains patient flow; takes patient's vital signs including blood pressure, height, weight and/or draws blood as directed; enters vital signs in medical records; updates or collects patient history; performs screening per provider guidelines; assists physicians/nurses in exam room during visit/procedures; sends and receives patient medical records; obtains diagnostic reports, hospital notes; manages charting process to ensure information is completed; prepares and sends blood cultures and other specimens to appropriate laboratories as requested; washes and sterilizes equipment; sets up instruments and equipment according to practice protocol; cleans exam and procedure rooms; checks date materials and medication for expiration date and discards expired items under supervision; performs other job related duties as required.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the completion of a medical assistant training course required; phlebotomy certification required; must have prior medical office and clinical experience; knowledge of Epic and Flowcast preferred; excellent organization and communication skills.
